France
The man who spearheaded France's 1998 World Cup glory is a footballing icon in his native country. Zizou, as he is known in France, is constantly tipped for the national side job, with none other than current boss Didier Deschamps the most recent to do so: "He will be coach [of France] one day. It will happen when it happens."
Deschamps, under contract until 2020, could be axed if France endure a woeful World Cup, which would pave the way for Zidane to take the helm for the start of the 2018/19 season.
Chelsea
Antonio Conte has been on the ropes at Stamford Bridge for a number of months and, despite guiding Chelsea to FA Cup silverware, is likely to face the sack. Former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri is believed to be discussing terms with the Blues, but upon hearing the news about Zidane, Roman Abramovich might set his sights on the Frenchman to restore the club's past glory.
Juventus
Having spent five seasons with 'La Vecchia Signora' as a player, Zidane is fondly thought of in Turin. Juventus narrowly missed out on the Champions League in 2017 and were knocked out of the competition controversially by Real Madrid this season. With triumphing in Europe their main objective, who better than the man who has just won three Champions League's on the trot to lead them?
PSG
The PSG job is notorious for being a temperamental hot seat. Despite the recent appointment of Thomas Tuchel in the French capital, Laurent Blanc and Unai Emery will tell you that job security at the Parc des Princes can change in a heartbeat. Like Juventus, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is determined to get his hands on Europe's biggest prize and could turn to Zidane should Tuchel fail like those before him.
Qatar
An outside bet for Zidane's next destination, a move to Qatar was hinted at on Thursday by Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris who tweeted a rumour of a €50million a year contract with the national team.
Year out
After a whirlwind three seasons with 'Los Blancos,' the most likely option for Zidane's near future appears to be a sabbatical from managing, much like Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique have done. A chance to kick back, put his feet up, and admire his three glistening Champions League trophies will probably sound very appealing to Zizou right now.
