Mane's red card split opinion this weekend, with both pundits and fans unable to come to a conclusion over whether the Liverpool winger should have been sent off following his challenge on Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson.
Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville disagreed with the decision, but Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher insisted referee Jon Moss had made the right call.
Just one day later, a similar incident occurred in the clash between Swansea and Newcastle.
Ritchie leapt for the ball in an almost identical manner to Mane, but also missed the ball. The only difference being that the Newcastle man hit Swansea's Mawson on the arm, rather than the face.
Despite a less dramatic impact, the Swansea man still required treatment, but in the end Ritchie was only shown a yellow card by Mike Jones.
The Newcastle midfielder admitted he was relieved not to see red, having seen the Mane challenge himself on Saturday.
"It was the same as yesterday, I just had my eye on the ball, but I think he came a bit lower than yesterday [Mane]," he said.
"I was delighted to see a yellow card. There was no intent. I didn't see his reaction. I looked straight round to see what the referee was doing and lucky enough it was a yellow card."
