Virgil Van Dijk has started to think about hanging up his boots

There are two moments that the footballer fears most: a serious knee injury and the day he says goodbye. The advantage of the second one is that you can foresee or sense it. One of the contemporary stars, Virgil van Dijk, said he has been thinking about that moment during the quarantine, which has allowed him to reflect on his past and his future.
In statements 'BT Sports', the Liverpool defender said the confinement has made him "think about how the withdrawal, how difficult it is for players to make the decision to retire."
"What are you going to do after that? It's hard not to be able to go out there, show our talent, work hard, the little things in the game," Van Dijk continued.
The fact is that there are so many routines that players have internalized and have trouble letting go of, as the Dutch defender has seen over the past two months: "Being able to play for our fans, winning, all the preparation before the games, the training sessions, being able to see my teammates... We spent a lot of time together and suddenly we stopped seeing each other for about two months."
