The home team took the lead at the Estadio Castelao when David Correa da Fonseca scored after 11 minutes. Gabriel Sara levelled for the visitors five minutes before the break and Sao Paulo hit the front courtesy of Luciano da Rocha Neves' goal after 61 minutes. Fortaleza pegged them back when Wellington Paulista found the target with just over a quarter of an hour left, but Luciano da Rocha Neves netted the winner in the 81st minute to give Sao Paulo the points. Fortaleza are in 12th on 24 points while Sao Paulo, who are unbeaten in their last 11, are 3rd on 36 points, but have two or three games in hand on all those around them.
