"We're not going to give a guard of honour, it's my decision and that's it," Zidane told the press on Friday after he was questioned about how 'Los Blancos' would welcome their rivals if they already had the La Liga title sewn up before next month's 'Clásico'.
The Real Madrid boss accused Barca of "breaking tradition" after they failed to give Real a guard of honour following their Club World Cup in December.
However, Valverde was in no mood to start an argument, telling TV cameras: "I don't give it any importance whatsoever," following Saturday's 3-1 win over Leganes.
The question was one against raise in his post-match press conference but Valverde was unmoved. "I have nothing to say. We are not champions," he replied.
The game against 'Lega' was Valverde's 50th in charge of Barca.
