Trippier set to miss season opener

The 26-year-old sustained the injury during a challenge with Juventus left-back Alex Sandro during Saturday's friendly with the Italian Champions and Spurs are still waiitng to discover the full extent of the damage.
At this point it looks certain that Trippier will miss Sunday's season opener against Newcastle, leaving Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino with something of a dilemma.
Having already sold Kyle Walker to Manchester City, youngster Kyle Walker-Peters is the only natural right-back in the Spurs squad and the former Southampton boss may have to give the youngster an earlier intoduction to Premier League life than he would have liked.
The 20-year-old is highly-rated by the Spurs staff but it is thought that top flight football would be a step too far for him at this stage.
The injury has pushed Spurs into action in the transfer market, with the Londoners believed to be hoping to sign Valencia defender Joao Cancelo to fill the void created by Walker's departure.
