Matt Doherty was Atletico's latest new face in January. He came on a free from Tottenham. With his contract run out, the Madrid side saved themselves a lot of money, and did not pay a penny to Spurs.
'Marca' claim that this 'favour' that Tottenham did for Atletico could earn the English side some signings this summer. Yannick Carrasco and Jan Oblak have been on Antonio Conte's side's wish-list for a while.
As for Carrasco, it will not be simple for Spurs. Barca, in the Depay move, got themselves an option-to-buy for him for €20 million. In any event, this option does not have to be brought into play if the club want to ask for more money, for example.
The other option is no easier, as Jan Oblak is a key player for Diego Simeone. The London club have been following the Slovenian for a while: it is their dream to replace Lloris with him. It will not be easy to convince Atletico to let him go. What the goalkeeper wants, however, could be key: 'Marca' claim that he is interested in playing in the Premier League and, therefore, if he wants to leave, he could put his foot down to make it happen.
Atletico are fighting to qualify for the Champions League, as that is the only way they would get the required about of money to carry on as they do. Selling some key players has not been ruled out if they want to get some new players in this summer.
