Steven Gerrard got the call from Aston Villa and left Rangers, who are currently top of the Scottish Premiership, without too much hesitation. And the local press is already looking for a replacement.

Right now there are three candidates. The first is an old acquaintance of Rangers, although many do not remember him: Gennaro Gattuso. The former Italian footballer spent one and a half seasons at Rangers at the dawn of the new millennium.
There is also talk of former Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes as a replacement for Gerrard. But the current favourite is Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who according to 'Sky Sports' has already started negotiations with the Scottish club.
