Cristiano Ronaldo arrived at Juve to carry on making history and to try and change Juve's history in Europe. Up to now, he has done neither. It goes without saying that the Portuguese's numbers are good, but far from stunning. In fact, you only need to look at his stats to confirm that it is the worst Cristiano in a decade.
In 42 games - 40 of them as a starter -, he has 'only' scored 28 goals. He has given 10 assists as well, but he is far from spectacular. To offer a comparison, last season, he had 44 goals at this stage and that despite the fact he had a very poor start to the campaign.
There are two matchdays left in Serie A and Cristiano will not even be able to win the golden boot (except a dramatic scoring spree in the last two goals). He has scored 21 in the league, one away from Zapata and five off Quagliarella, a Sampdoria veteran who is going to stop Ronaldo from winning another trophy.
Especially in a Champions League which has got away from him for the first time in four years. He will watch the final on TV as he was unable to lead Juve to victory over Ajax. In the Champions League, his competition, he scored just six goals. Not enough for someone who always looks to be at the top.
Of course, he has been out of the race for the Golden Shoe for a while, just like the Ballon D'or. In his last game, against Roma, there was tension between him and Florenzi, who publically criticised him afterwards. "Cristiano can do what he wants because he has won the Ballon D'or," summised the Roma footballer.
Obviously, Cristiano will be the leader of the Juve project once again next season, although it is still to be seen if it will be with Allegri as coach. Now he is more used to Italian football, the '7' hopes to improve his stats which, if he does not improve drastically in the next two games (he needs at least five goals to equal 2009-10's register), will be the worst in the last nine years.
