When your team is in trouble, the footballer's job is to do whatever it takes to get the situation back on track. However, it seems that after five months of competition, Griezmann and Joao Felix are not pulling their teams' strings.
Despite their known talent, the performances have not been as good as they were in their previous teams, even if some believe they will recover soon, as it's all due to the slow adaptation process.
Interestingly, this Thursday they face each other in a key match which will see either Atletico or Barcelona earn a place in the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid, who beat Valencia 3-1 on Wednesday night.
Both Griezmann and Joao Félix have a good chance to take the lead, although Messi and Suárez threaten not to give them even the slightest chance to make a mark.
The French and the Portuguese are part of the past, present, and future of Atletico. Meanwhile, Griezmann will have to face the wrath of Atletico fans once again, who feel he abandoned the team which saw him grow and has now become a traitor in their eyes.
As far as numbers go, Joao Felix has scored four goals and given one assist in 19 matches, while the Frenchman has scored eight and given four assists in 24 matches.
Joao Felix will therefore need to prove he is indeed a worthy replacement to Griezmann, who has managed to score against every single team in LaLiga in his eleven seasons in Spain, with one exception: his former club Atletico Madrid.
