Roberto Carlos offered some words to 'ESPN' in which he recalled the moment in which he met his compatriot Marcelo at Real Madrid.
Los Blancos signed the LB in 2006, when he was just 18 years old for 6 million euros, a sum that went into Fluminense's coffers.
The historic ex-Madrid player recalled how he experienced his arrival to the Santiago Bernabéu: "I met Marcelo here when he was 18. Madrid wanted to loan him to some clubs here in Spain and I was the first to say no".
Roberto Carlos was like an older brother to a Marcelo who was also able to speak about that complicated moment in some words to Real Madrid TV.
"When I was 18 a board member called me into his office at the Bernabeu and I went alone. He told me that they wanted to loan me to another club to get experience and that they wanted me to come back the following year. I told him that I was not going to move from Madrid. It was the worst moment because I knew that the team didn't need me, but it was the moment when I was the strongest", the Madrid player recalled.
The ex-Brazil internationalist recalled how he welcomed him into his home on more than one occasion: "I know the importance of Christmas for families. Being away from Brazil, he had to have a home and feel at home. I lived with my aunt and I told her: 'Aunt, Marcelo and his family are coming, find a table for them so they can feel at home with us".
