Potter is believed to be one of three candidates in the running for the Swans job. Former Manchester United defender and Reading boss Jaap Stam and ex-Ajax boss Frank de Boer make up the other two names on the shortlist.
Potter has been at the helm at Ostersunds since 2011 and has enjoyed a successful career in Sweden having guided his side to three promotions and the Europa League round of 32.
During his playing career, the 43-year-old was a journeyman defender and made 307 appearances in the English Football League. He played the lionshare of his career with York City between 2000 and 2003.
Given the promotions Potter boasts on his CV, Swansea will see him as the ideal candidate to restore their place in the Premier League having suffered relegation last season.
