Garcia Pimienta has been dismissed from his role as Sevilla head coach after they fell to a 1-0 defeat at Valencia on Friday, leaving them 13th in the Spanish top-flight standings. "Xavier Garcia Pimienta has been relieved from his duties as manager of Sevilla FC," reads the club's statement.
"The club confirmed the dismissal of the head coach, who leaves after 31 La Liga matchdays in charge of the Nervionense side. Sevilla FC would like to thank Garcia Pimienta for his work throughout these months and his professionalism. We wish him the best in his future endeavours."
The 50-year-old was appointed by Sevilla in June 2024, penning a two-year deal after leading Las Palmas to promotion in 2022-23 and keeping them in La Liga the following season. He also previously managed Barcelona’s reserve side in the third tier.
Reports in Spain inform that Joaquin Caparros, who coached the Andalusian side between 2000-2005, is set to take the reins until the end of the term. Sevilla have just one win in their last seven matches and have lost their derby clash against bitter rivals Real Betis on March 30.
