Lyon announced on Thursday the sacking of Italian coach Fabio Grosso, their second sacking this season after Frenchman Laurent Blanc, due to a poor run of results that has kept them bottom of the table.
Current youth director Pierre Sage, who has no first-team coaching experience, will take over as interim coach until the club's owner, US billionaire John Textor, finds a new manager.
Grosso took over after Blanc was sacked on matchday four, having taken just one point from the first four league games, but the Italian's record has not been positive: one win and three draws in seven matches.
The problems are increasing for a historic club in French football, which is 5 points away from safety with a game in hand.
The defeat at their stadium against Lille last weekend led to Grosso's sacking, who has not stopped introducing changes in his starting lineups, both in terms of names and tactical system, without finding the key to victory.
