Liverpool have seen a second bid for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia turned away by the Saints. The Reds had come in with an improvement on their original bid of £34 million with £4 million in add-ons, but according to 'Sky Sports', it has been rejected.
According to 'The Athletic', the second offer was in the region of £42 million, but the Saints are reportedly still holding out for £50 million as, aware of the interest of various clubs, they believe they can create a bidding war.
Chelsea and Manchester United have also reportedly remained interested in the 19-year-old, who made the move to Southampton last year from Manchester City, and impressed thoroughly on his debut campaign.
Despite having four years left on his contract still, Lavia is expected to leave Southampton, who were relegated at the end of last season.
Liverpool have some funds to play with, as although they have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to their midfield, they recently sold skipper Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia - Al-Ettifaq and Al-Ittihad respectively.
The young Belgian is not the only one the Reds have their eye on however, as it's also reported they're exploring a deal for Fluminense midfielder, Andre, and contact has reportedly been made with the Brazilian club.
