Premier League leaders Arsenal are having undoubtedly their best season in recent years. The Gunners were surprisingly knocked out of the Europa League against Sporting CP but could still win their first domestic title since they last won it in 2004.
That is why all the players in Arteta's squad want to be part of this nice run of form in which the London team are involved. However, not all players are able to enjoy playing time and one of them is Smith-Rowe.
The young England midfielder suffered a groin injury at the start of the season and underwent surgery in September, so since becoming available again in 2023 he has played just 63 minutes. The Arsenal player, after opening the scoring for England Under-21s against France Under-21s, said to the 'Athletic' that he is "desperate" to get more playing time
“I’m desperate to be playing, the team are doing really well and it’s something I want to be a part of," he commented on his lack of opportunities.
However, the youngster made it clear he is not throwing in the towel: “I’ve got to stay fit now for when the manager needs me. I’m trying to work as hard as I can so I’m ready to perform.
