Simeone: "Before, good players chose Real Madrid and Barca, now they also choose Atletico"

LaLiga kicked off for Atletico. Celta was the first opponent for the Simeone's squad in LaLiga and the next one will be Elche.
The season got off to a winning start for the Madrid's team and Simeone hopes that this will be the path that his side will follow throughout the rest of the season. Cholo spoke to 'ESPN' about it.
For the Atletico manager, the club is doing things very well and that shows when it comes to signing. "Before, the big players used to say 'I'm going to Madrid, I'm going to Barca... Now, the good ones also want to come to Atletico Madrid. You have to understand that thanks to our management, to how the club works," he said.
And he explained the transfer policy in depth: "The club looks for young and good people who can grow. They come here to train. People don't understand that".
He gave as an example the departure of Griezmann and the subsequent signing of Joao Felix. "Griezmann leaves, Joao Felix comes. Obviously, the distance is a lot. That doesn't mean that one is better than the other. Logically, Griezmann when he leaves is much better formed as a player, but we'll see in four years' time if Joao is better than Griezmann...", he commented.
You can also see how well Atletico are doing, according to Simeone, in the minds of the players: when someone arrives, they don't want to leave. "From 2011 to 2014 the players stayed and we were champions. Many left, believing that the club's moment was over. They were wrong: a new cycle was beginning. In 2014 everyone wanted to leave and now nobody. Why? Because we work well and there is stability," he said.
As for those who want to join Atletico, he warned them that they will have to earn their place when the time comes. "To be here you need talent, but that's not everything: you need personality, confidence, conviction, commitment," he said.
Finally, he sent a warning to Madrid and Barca: "What we have done is extraordinary. We are winning when, a priori, they always have the chance to win first. After nine years of work, both know that they can't make a mistake because, if they do, we're here."
