Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has surprisingly acknowledged that scoring goals is not among his main strengths. Following a recent hamstring injury, Jesus returned to the starting lineup for Brazil's World Cup qualifier against Argentina on Tuesday night.
Argentina went on to defeat Brazil 1-0 thanks to a goal from Nicolas Otamendi and sit top of the South American qualifying standings with 15 points from six games.
Speaking post-game, the Brazilian striker defended his goal-scoring record and urged fans to be more patient, although he openly admitted that scoring doesn't come naturally to him.
"Scoring goals is inevitable but it is not my strongest suit. I play to score a goal, that's why I'm in the national team. Scoring goals again will happen naturally," he told reporters.
While displaying his prowess in the Champions League this season, scoring three goals in as many games for the Gunners and bringing them close to the knockout stages with two group matches remaining, the 26-year-old has encountered challenges in replicating that success in the Premier League, managing to score only once in seven appearances.
