Schalke 04 announce Thomas Reis as new boss

Eight days after Kramer was sacked as Schalke 04 coach, the club made official the hiring of former Bochum coach Thomas Reis, who was announced on Thursday.

After the words of the member of the sporting department, Thomas Reis began his speech: "I am happy that it has finally been settled after some special days and that I am able to dedicate myself to my profession. I am happy to be able to work with a team again. The goal we will have together is to stay in the first division.

He added that the objective will start with getting to know the squad and once that is achieved, to move forward together. He also assured that he will be close to each player so that they can express themselves openly. 

Finally, Thomas Reis said goodbye with a positive message: "We know it won't be an easy situation, but that's what makes the job interesting. We have a wonderful stadium, a wonderful crowd, a wonderful and huge club. I feel very comfortable in the Ruhr area and I've shown that I fit in here. The coach's first game will be against third-placed Freiburg in the Bundesliga.
