Santos complete loan signing of forward Lautaro Diaz

Santos FC officially presented their new forward, Lautaro Diaz, this Tuesday, September 9th. He arrives on loan from Cruzeiro until July 2026 and will wear the number 19 shirt for 'Peixe' (the Fish, Santos's nickname). According to Globo Esporte, during the press conference at Vila Belmiro, the Argentine player highlighted his pride in defending a club with such tradition and stated that he is motivated to earn his place within the team. Lautaro emphasised that his main characteristic is his mobility on the pitch and that he is willing to play in any position that coach Juan Pablo Vojvoda requests.
Lautaro Diaz, 27, has played for important clubs in South America, such as Independiente del Valle, where he won the Copa Sudamericana and the Recopa Sudamericana. At Cruzeiro, he played 42 matches but suffered from injuries and struggled to maintain a consistent run in the first team, which motivated his move to Santos FC in search of more opportunities to showcase his football. The Argentine stated that he intends to give his all to help Santos in the final stretch of the season and establish himself as an important player in the team.
Received with high expectations by the Santos board, who are betting on the player's potential to strengthen the attacking sector, Lautaro Diaz is already cleared to make his debut in the remainder of the Brasileirao (Brazilian League). The forward also highlighted the importance of Santos FC's history in his decision, stating that he would be fulfilling an old dream of playing for the club. With great desire and expectation, the new number 19 promises dedication to contribute with goals and assists for the team from Baixada Santista.
