Barcelona continue to assess the transfer market in the hope of making a marquee signing. It looks as though the option of bringing Erling Haaland to the club has alluded them due to his unaffordable price tag. City and Madrid are the two candidates in the best position to meet the financial demands.
Because of this, the Barca board are looking into the signing of none other than Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian winger's renewal talks with Liverpool have stalled and the fact that his contract is due to expire in 2023 could accelerate his transfer to the Camp Nou.
'Sport' reports that the Liverpool man is awaiting an offer from Barcelona and he is not dimissing the option of a possible move to the club. He is a complete player and meets all of Barca's requirements: a top player who can play in various attacking roles and provide serious quality to the squad.
The attacker has a renewal offer on the table from the Reds but he is yet to respond to it. The number 10 is in no rush and is waiting to compare Barca's offer with that of Liverpool's.
His signing would tie in with Dembele's situation at Barca. The Frenchman occupies the same position as the Egyptian and is a key player for Xavi at this moment in time. However, he made it clear in the winter that he does not want renew and will leave at the end of the season.
Although it seems that Ousmane is happy at Barcelona now, his future lies elsewhere from the Camp Nou. Paris looks his most likely destination as PSG have already made him an offer which will see him leave Barca for free.
Without doubt, Salah's arrival would be a marquee signing for the Catalan club. The winger has become a star at Liverpool in the last few years and arguably the best player in the world. He has scored 153 goals and made 57 assists in 239 matches for the club.
