"Ronaldo is obsessed with being the best of all time"

At 35 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo is changing his game but he is still at a very high physical level. His mentality has been key and that metamorphosis on the field at Juventus could lead him to maintain his level, if no injuries arrive, for several more years.
This reflection is shared by someone who knows the Portuguese player very well, Mick Clegg. The English physical trainer was a member of Sir Alex Ferguson's coaching staff at Manchester United, and it was he who worked to mould Cristiano Ronaldo during his years at Old Trafford.
For Clegg, the Portuguese is unparalleled in football. At least, in his career: "Before Cristiano Ronaldo, the best sportsman he had had in terms of body and work was Ryan Giggs. He was the strongest and, in addition, he paid a lot of attention to details".
"If Giggs played for United until he was 40, Cristiano can play until he is 41. Ronaldo was the only one able to go beyond the high levels of Giggs," maintains Mick Clegg in an interview for 'Gazzetta dello Sport'.
The key is that the striker knows how to adapt to another style of football: "Ronaldo will continue to change the way he plays, just as Giggs did. He will stay on top because he is obsessed with being the best of all time and will score more than Bican's 805 goals.
This is how he describes the keys to Cristiano's form: "He works a lot, he is very careful with his recovery time and with his sleep. He has a cook, he knows how to avoid stress. He pays a lot of attention to details. All this is no secret".
For his former United fitness coach, the only thing that can stop Cristiano Ronaldo is bad luck: "Despite everything, it's true that an injury can always come, because that's something you can't predict 100%".
