Real Madrid v Real Betis - as it happened

FT: Real Madrid 0-0 Betis! It finishes goalless between Madrid and Betis. Neither side had anything left to play for today, but they did create some good chances to win it. Kroos and Casemiro both came close for the hosts in the first half, while Jose hit a shot just wide at the other end. After the break, the best chance fell to Benzema, but his first-time shot was blocked by Silva. Joaquin came off the bench and scuffed a shot over in the closing moments, while Benzema also headed wide in 92'

CLOSE! Madrid are making a late push for the winner here as Marcelo surges down the left. He lifts a great cross into Benzema, who nods his effort back across goal, but he sends it just wide.

Sabaly loses Vinicius again and he manages to squeeze a low cross into Isco. There are three defenders between him and the goal, so he lays it off to Ceballos. He goes for power and ends up hitting it just wide of the near post.

GREAT CHANCE! Tello clips a great cross into the far post and Iglesias volleys it back into the middle for Joaquin. He hits it first time, but scuffs at the shot, and ends up lifting it just over the bar.

Vinicius skips away from Sabaly's challenge again and pulls it back to Benzema on the edge of the box. His first touch off his chest is heavy, which closes down the angle, and he fires over from next to the near post.

It's switched out to Vinicius again, who touches it into Benzema on the edge of the box. He takes a touch before curling a shot towards the far top corner, but it sails over the bar.

Valverde's run down the right is cut out, but he manages to pull it back for Isco. He has Benzema making a run through the middle ahead of him, but can't pick him out with a throughball.

Betis double sub: Juanmi is the first to go off, with Iglesias replacing him. And Fekir is also going off, with Joaquin coming on to make his 600th LaLiga appearance.

RM triple sub: Ceballos, Isco and Marcelo on for Modric, Rodrygo and Mendy.

Betis double sub: Guardado and Willian Jose are replaced by William Carvalho and Rodri.

Modric squares it into Camavinga on the edge of the box and he knocks it past Pezzella before hitting a low shot on goal. Silva gets down to parry it away before holding it on his second attempt.

Madrid are just stepping up the pressure now as Benzema is played in on the edge of the box again. This time, he fizzes a low shot towards the far post, but he sends it just wide.

Carvajal curls it into Benzema in the middle of the box and he takes the shot quickly. It's straight at Silva, who seemed surprised that it came at him so quickly, and Rodrygo fires wide on the rebound.

Madrid get us back underway for the second half!

RM HT double sub: Camavinga and Valverde on for Casemiro and Kroos.

HT: Real Madrid 0-0 Betis! It's goalless at the break between Madrid and Betis. Both sides have created some good chances, and have come close to breaking the deadlock a couple of times. Kroos and Casemiro both drilled low shots just wide for Madrid, while Jose was just as near at the other end. Rodriguez also saw a long-range effort deflected into Courtois' gloves.

CLOSE! Casemiro bursts through the middle of the pitch to the edge of the box, and the space opens up for him due to Benzema's run. He drills a low shot towards the near post, but it's just wide.

Vinicius checks back inside, wrongfooting Sabaly, before whipping a good cross into the box. It's just too high for Benzema though and nobody is behind him to have a tap in.

It's a wonderful pass from Kroos out to Vinicius on the left as he sets him on the counter. Benzema trips just before he gets into the box, but Rodrygo down reach the low cross. Bartra steps in with an important interception before he can get his feet sorted out though.

We're back underway with Betis in possession. They're patiently working it out from the back again, but they can't find a way in behind Madrid at the moment

Fekir goes deep with the corner this time and Pezzella rises above Casemiro to nod it back across goal. Militao's clearance goes as far as Fekir, who tries to slide it through for Juanmi this time, but Courtois collects it.

Courtois goes long out to Vinicius high on the left and he skips away from Sabaly before putting a low cross into the box. Benzema sticks out a leg, taking a heavy first touch which takes it straight out of play.

Casemiro is caught on the ball just outside his own box by Fekir, and his touch takes it to Jose. He drags it away from Modric before drilling a low shot towards the near post. Courtois is scrambling, but it rolls just wide.

Fekir touches it through to Canales, who drifted in behind Madrid's defence, and he clips a cross in from the left. Juanmi rises above Mendy but gets caught under the cross and his header flies into the stands.

Betis break quickly on the counter again and Juanmi chests it down on the edge of the box. Jose and Fekir both leave it to each other but do manage to win a corner as Carvajal wasn't taking any chances.

The space opens up for Rodriguez on the edge of the box, so he decides to have a go from distance. It takes a deflection off Militao's heel in his attempt to block it, but Courtois gets behind it.

Mendy's overlapping run down the left catches Betis out and he lifts a good cross in from the bylines. It's over the defenders and Benzema lets it bounce before hitting a shot. It's blocked by Bartra, and Kroos can only drill his rebound effort wide.

Rodrygo gets a corner for Madrid.

Fekir's corner is straight into Courtois' gloves, and he rolls it out to Benzema, setting Madrid on the break. He does pick out Vinicius this time, but the return pass is too heavy and Silva rushes out to gather it.
