"Real Madrid always pushes you to the highest levels"

Real Madrid were named the best team of the year 2024 at the Laureus Awards gala, and both Luka Modric and Dani Carvajal were the Spanish club's representatives to collect the trophy. 

'Los Blancos' had a great last season that contrasts sharply with the poor performances they have had in the current one, even more so when they were expected to be favourites for all the titles after the arrival of Kylian Mbappe. 

However, Modric was keen to express that the club was "proud" to receive the award and stressed that last season they bordered on "excellence" on the pitch and are clearly deserving of winning the award.

"We want to thank the Laureus organizers on behalf of Real Madrid. Our team is proud to collect this prestigious award. We had a great season, winning many trophies and displaying excellence on the pitch.," he said.

"Real Madrid always pushes you to the highest levels, to do your best, as we demonstrated last season. We deserve to win this award," he concluded.
