Ramos one step closer to renewing with Madrid

The renewal of Sergio Ramos is an important issue for Real Madrid, however neither party are in any rush. The captain's inner circle have said many times that they are relaxed and that there will be an agreement sooner rather than later.
Florentino Perez, for his part, didn't give anything away in his last few interviews. He didn't deny Ramos' importance for the club, but he also didn't overlook their current complicated economic situation.
"We're in a very tough period. I love him a lot, but we need to be realistic. I haven't said that Ramos won't continue. We're just thinking about finishing the season, then we will see what happen. A lot could happen yet", explained 'El Chiringuito'.
Well, the newspaper 'ABC' have learnt that both parties have taken a step in the right direction in the CB's complicated renewal, and it appears that Sergio Ramos would accept a lowered salary in line with the club's demands due to their current economic problems.
This first understanding will now make way for the first important part, regarding the duration of the new contract. It is at this stage is where disagreements can arise.
Sergio Ramos wants to sign for another two seasons, however this goes against the club's custom. Madrid will offer him a year which would be extended at the end of each campaign. Either way, one of the two parties will have to give in to the other.
