Algeciras versus Ceuta is a hotly contested game in Spanish football as the hosts are based near Gibraltar while Ceuta is a Spanish city in Morocco.
In the matchday 23 clash in Spain's third tier, things got out of hand just before half-time. In the 42nd minute, the referee gave a penalty to Algeciras for handball by Danese in the Ceuta box.
Two Algeciras went to ground and one of the players went over to the referee and pointed to his own forehead to say that he had been hit. Ceuta goalkeeper Mejias also claimed he had been struck by an opponent.
It then spilled over into the dugouts and the Police had to get involved to stop the two benches fighting.
The referee showed a yellow to each team. To Tomas Mejias of Ceuta and Ivan Turrillo of Algeciras. After all the fighting, Romero converted the penalty to put Algeciras 1-0 up, but Ceuta foight back to win 1-2.
