PFDB report: De Ligt, a multi functional head

We've seen him unsettle Ronaldo in the aerial battles. Eating up Mbappé's spaces and overruling him. Becoming the new Sergio Ramos attacking the strategy passages of moves. With a dominant personality, an imperial physique and painful life lessons to accelerate his experience, only a serious injury can leave Matthijs de Ligt (Leiderdorp, 1999) without the bright future that awaits him.

The magical Ajax who were on the brink of the Champions League final in the 18-19 season with De Ligt as general surprised because they had nothing to lose. The powerful Juve forced to win everything are teaching the Dutch CB to be a soldier of an army populated with gallons. So anyone who thinks that Matthijs de Ligt has lowered the piston this season is greatly mistaken. What's happening now is that he continues his training by learning in the most difficult year, the year of confirmation. Even at the age of 20, he is undoubtedly receiving an unbeatable master class.

All in all, he's played 27 games for the Turin side. And while some have claimed that he has made some mistakes, one fact that ProFootballDB has found is that he has a 89.86% passing accuracy, making him one of the best CBs at getting rid of the ball in the league. That's just one of his ways of using his head.

Because, as if that were not enough, his mastery of the air game, backed up by his almost 190cm height and large build, is absolute. It's good to see him in those passages of play; how he foresees the pass and gains the seconds of anticipation; how he marks the striker but with the space to make a powerful jump. However, he has also shown great intelligence in the box, and hence he has scored 15 goals since his debut.

The leadership that he had at Ajax is conserved for the Netherlands, where he has the best possible manager for him, Ronald Koeman (hence the obsession that Barca had in getting him). Capable of playing in any major league, he is destined to make a name for himself this decade.
