Özil fined for speeding and says he confused miles for kilometres!

Mesut Özil was caught speeding. The Arsenal player was going 97 miles per hour, or more than 156 kilometres per hour. This led to a fine.
The story does not end there, because to try and avoid the fine and the possible loss of his licence, Özil said he confused miles with kilometres, explained 'The Sun'.
"Because of COVID-19 restrictions, the motorway was empty. And the only explanation I can give is that, because of the absence of other vehicles on the road, I lost concentration for a moment," the Arsenal player told the Bromley Magistrates' Court.
Özil, who drove his Mercedes Benz G-Klasse, added: "I'm a German national and I'm used to driving vehicles that display speed in kilometres per hour, not miles".
Özil's intention is that the fine should be purely financial. "In the current climate, I would not like to travel on public transport with my daughter," said the midfielder.
