"Olmo? There is a sentence that says he can play"

Enrique Cerezo used the occasion of the directors' lunch prior to the Atletico Madrid-Barcelona Copa del Rey to talk about the issue of the moment, the “Olmo case” and the statement from La Liga.

"There is a sentence that says he can play and we have to respect that. We like to see games with good players, and Dani Olmo is among them," said the Rojiblanco boss.

"We don't have to say anything. The League is the one that has the rules and it is the one that has to speak. I think that everything here goes beyond that. If Dani Olmo is playing it is because he has to play," added Cerezo.

The Atletico Madrid president was asked about the La Liga statement: "Nobody has said anything to me". Also, on whether the Rojiblanco club would be treated in the same way as Barcelona: "The truth is that I don't know, this has never happened to us."

Cerezo also defended Simeone, who he said is untouchable: "Today's match does not imply anything for or against Simeone. We love the coach, he has been with us for 13 years and we are delighted with him."

"It's a different game, a game that we start from zero. I think we're going to get through because the team is very eager and wants to get through the tie. To lose would be to complicate something that we can do. The Madrid derby would be a fantastic final to redeem ourselves," he said.
