Heavy speculation, including a press release from the president of the French Football Federation, had already put the forward at Anfield next season, but Lyon will be able to count on the services of their captain after discussions fell through on Saturday evening.
There has been many contrary reports over the last week, with several outlets reporting that that the transfer was a ''done deal'', whilst others noted that concerns over the 24-year-old's fitness would prevent completion of his signing.
The Ligue 1 outfit released a statement on the official club website that read: ''Olympique Lyonnais confirms that the tri-party negotiations with Liverpool and Nabil Fekir for the OL captain's transfer have not been successful. Olympique Lyonnais have decided to put an end to the negotations this evening at 8.00pm (CET).''
''Subject to other offers consistent with the interests of both Nabil and OL, and from ambitious clubs, Olympique Lyonnais is delighted to be able to count on the services of our captain for the 2018-19 season, as we compete in the Champions League.''
