OFFICIAL: Fabianski rejoins West Ham on one-year deal after being released in the summer

The summer transfer window slammed shut on September 1st. However, movement between clubs hasn't completely ceased, as they can still sign players who are free agents.

Several deals have been completed in the opening days of September, but one of the most surreal is undoubtedly the one that occurred on Wednesday. Veteran goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski has rejoined West Ham for a season.

So far, so normal, perhaps. But the remarkable aspect is that the 40-year-old has returned to the Hammers a mere 71 days later. The Pole's contract expired on July 1st after he wasn't offered a new deal, and he's now back at the club as of Wednesday.

One of the reasons for Fabianski's return to West Ham was the departure of Foderingham, which left them with only two goalkeepers (Hermansen and Areola). At 40, he arrives to bolster the goalkeeping options of a side who, along with Wolves, have conceded the most goals in the Premier League so far (8).
