'Fox' reported on Friday that Coutinho will not be able to wear the No. 7 jersey as it was being reserved for the Atletico Madrid striker. One half of that story came true on Wednesday as the Catalan club confirmed that the Brazilian will wear the No. 14, so does that mean the other half will come true too?
That remains murky as the La Liga leaders forcefuly denied claims that there was already "a secret agreement" between the club and the player, stressing their utmost respect for Atletico Madrid following complaints in the past for player tapping.
However, there are still rumours in the Spanish media that Griezmann will join Barcelona in summer. 'Mundo Deportivo' claim that "the '14' is for Coutinho and the '7' is free, just in case".
The only thing that is for certain on Wednesday is that the Frenchman is still an Atletico player. Time will tell if Barcelona can secure his signature but it appears the Catalan press will continue to speculate anyway with that No. 7 shirt remaining vacant.
