Mourinho: Bailly can become one of the best defenders in the world at Man Utd

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho believes the club’s new signing Eric Bailly has the potential to become one of the best in the world.

The club confirmed on Wednesday that the 22-year-old had joined from Villarreal for around £30 million, on a four-year contract with the option of a further two seasons.

There are high expectations as the iconic coaches first signing, but Mourinho is confident the Ivory Coast international will be a huge success.

"Eric is a young central defender with great natural talent,” Mourinho told the club’s official website.

“He has progressed well to date and has the potential to become one of the best around.

"We look forward to working with him to help nurture that raw talent and fulfil his potential. Eric is at the right club to continue his development."
