Modric wins UEFA Champions League Player of the Season

Since arriving at the Santiago Bernabéu in summer 2012, the midfielder has become the beacon of 'Los Blancos'.

Throughout the Champions League stages, he only furthered the opinion of himself as one of the top players in Europe and the world.

With Modric on the pitch, Real Madrid have won four of the last five Champions League titles, the last three being added consequtively with Zinedine Zidane at the helm.

Although he had a somewhat irregular start to the season, the Croatian took charge in order to redirect the course towards the desired end of Kiev.

Beyond Cristiano Ronaldo's vital 15 goals , Zidane trusted the talent of Luka Modric to guide Real Madrid to their thirteenth Champions League.

Absent against Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain, the midfielder played eleven games, in which he only managed to score once: against APOEL in Nicosia.

With the World Cup Golden Ball under his belt, Luka Modric was chosen by UEFA as the  best player in Europe for the 2017-18 season , ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah.
