Mazraoui out until February due to COVID-19-induced pericarditis

Bad news for Noussair Mazraoui. Bayern Munich's Moroccan right-back will be out for four to six weeks due to pericarditis, a swelling and irritation of the thin tissue around the heart, which causes, among other things, chest pain and shortness of breath.

According to 'Bild', the 25-year-old suffered a serious COVID-19 infection during his holiday after the World Cup in Qatar with Morocco. As a result of the coronavirus infection, Mazraoui suffered the aforementioned pericarditis, a similar illness to that suffered months earlier by team-mate Alphonso Davies.

That is why, according to the aforementioned media, it is expected that the former Ajax player will not be able to play for Bayern again at least until early to mid-February.

This is the Moroccan defender's first season in Munich. At the end of the first phase of the season, he has made 18 official appearances, eleven of them as a starter, and provided three assists, all of them in the Bundesliga.
