Japanese player Kazu Miura is no longer the only forty-year-old - in his case fifty - who still feels fresh enough to play. In Brazil an imitator has appeared in the form of Marcelinho Paraíba, a former Brazilian international, has confirmed that he will return to playing at the age of 45.
The midfielder, who has played for Olympique Marseille, Trabzonspor, Hertha Berlin and Wolfsburg in Germany, and former player of Sao Paulo and Flamengo, among many other teams in Brazil, announced that he will play for Treze, of Serie C - the third division.
Marcelinho Paraíba has only been on standby for a few months, as he played until last March and had been a technical assistant in the team.
Now, at 45, he intends to show that he still has more quality than many young players who aspire to be stars in Brazil.
