Man Utd slipping away from Europe after Burnley draw

Saturday's match at Old Trafford was chaotic. Both Manchester United and Burnley looked disorganised and their intentions on the pitch were unclear despite the hosts' initial efforts.

The Red Devils had the clearest chances of the first half as Vincent Kompany's men made several errors that could have cost them dearly. However, the Clarets managed to go in at half-time with a goalless draw.

The second period seemed to be more dynamic at the start but followed the same line as the first until Brazilian winger Antony, who had other chances throughout the game, broke the deadlock in the 79th minute and gave his team the lead at home.

Erik ten Hag's composure was short-lived as his men gifted the visitors a penalty in the 85th minute when Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana struck Zeki Amdouni's face in what appeared to be a disagreement with Casemiro.

The two Manchester United players did not see eye to eye when Burnley's attack approached their side's box. As a result, the pressure continues to mount on the Dutch coach, who is being considered by co-owner Jim Ratcliffe. His future could be far away from Old Trafford next campaign.

The share of the points suits Burnley in their fight for Premier League survival while the Red Devils are moving further away from their aim of reaching the European places before the end of the season.
