Man Utd's summer tour sparks concerns over gruelling travel schedule

Following the conclusion of the 2024/25 Premier League season on May 25, Manchester United are in advanced negotiations to play friendlies in Malaysia and Hong Kong. Reports indicate they could earn around £8 million from these fixtures, which are part of the club's broader strategy to strengthen commercial ties in Asia.
The proposed matches would see United travel to Kuala Lumpur on May 28 for a game against a select XI before heading to Hong Kong. This scheduling could create significant challenges for several players, including Alejandro Garnacho and Manuel Ugarte, who are expected to participate in crucial international fixtures shortly after.
Garnacho is likely to join Argentina for matches in Chile on June 4 and Buenos Aires on June 9, while Ugarte will be involved in Uruguay's World Cup qualifiers in Paraguay and Montevideo on the same dates. But the extensive travel commitments do not end there.
After their international duties, United's players will regroup for a pre-season fixture against Leeds in Stockholm on July 19 before heading to the United States for the Premier League Summer Series, starting on July 26.
Their American tour includes matches in New Jersey, Chicago and Atlanta against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton, leading up to the 2025/26 Premier League season opener on August 16.
