Man Utd delay Greenwood decision to consult players at World Cup

Manchester United had previously communicated that they would announce a decision regarding Mason Greenwood's future before the beginning of the 2023-24 season, but this looks to be delayed.
According to 'The Guardian', the reason is that 'key stakeholders' are still being consulted, and the club are also waiting for three players to return from the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Mary Earps, Ella Toone and Katie Zelem are all representing England, who play their quarter-final match against Colombia on Saturday and the club considers it important that they are part of the process.
Greenwood has not played for the Red Devils since January 2022, following his arrest and subsequent charging in October of the same year over attempted rape and assault, among other charges.
Separately, 'The Athletic' have reported that a group of United fans are organising a protest against the 21-year-old's possible return to the squad, and will make their feelings known ahead of the opening home game on August 14th against Wolves.
They have made a banner that reads "Female Fans Demand No Greenwood Return - End Violence Against Women" and are calling for the "club to stand up and make the right decision", according to one of the organisers.
“This is a tipping point for the club. Are they going to side with commercialism and trophies and money? Or are they going to take the side of match-going fans, and the club being a social and community institution that we can be proud of, and proud to have as part of our identity?”, they continued.
