Man Utd approach Leicester about £65m Maguire signing

The centre-back was one of England's best performers during the World Cup, and received praise from all quarters for his calm and competent displays in an England shirt despite playing in his first major international tournament.

With his impressive efforts in Russia, it was thought that the player could get a big move away from Leicester City, for whom he played every minute of the Premier League season last year.

Having joined the 'Foxes' from Hull City for £17 million just last summer, Maguire got his first England call-up less than a year ago but is now one of the stars of the 'Three Lions' set up.

Jose Mourinho is looking to bolster his defensive options in a transfer market in which he has admitted he is disappointed, with Fred being the only big-name player to join the 'Red Devils' so far.

'Sky Sports' believe that should Mourniho get his man, his club would be willing to pay Leicester around £65 million. However, the club have already lost Riyad Mahrez to Man CIty this summer and seem unwilling to let another of their key players leave.

Maguire will return to preseason training in the coming days, and is believed to be open to a move to Old Trafford, but is thought to be likely to stay at the King Power Stadium due to his club's opposition to the deal.
