River Plate renewed Franco Mastantuono a few days ago until 2026, but that does not mean that the big clubs in Europe have given up their efforts to sign him. The most insistent, or at least the one that the press has reported the most about so far, is Real Madrid. The newspaper 'Marca', in fact, assures that some 'Merengues' scouts recently travelled to Buenos Aires to see him in action together with other talents of the 'Millonario'.
The idea of the Madrid board is still to secure his signing in two seasons' time, when he reaches the age of majority -he is 16 years old now-. The aim is to get ahead of other potential suitors for the Argentinian prodigy, whose nation has already produced several budding stars such as Julian Alvarez, who signed for Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, became a key player and won the Champions League.
The presence of some scouts from the Santiago Bernabeu outfit in South America was not just about this talent. The first mission was to meet Endrick, whose arrival in Spain has already been confirmed, to see how he is doing and to convey to him that, from the Spanish capital, there is attention to his development and affection for his waiting time to arrive in Europe as soon as his age allows him to do so.
Returning to Mastantuono, his termination clause has been increased to 45 million euros with his recent renewal, an amount that Real Madrid understand to be beyond the market. It can be understood from this analysis that 'Los Blancos' will try to push for a deal with River Plate for less money. The problem is that other European projects willing to pay the required amount may get in the way.
