Lukas Nmecha, latest player to miss WC

Bad news for Nmecha, who was going to play in the World Cup with Germany but Wolfsburg have confirmed the worst predictions.

Wolfsburg said on their social media: "Lukas Nmecha suffered an injury against Dortmund and he will be out of action for a few weeks." The German striker, who has English nationality, was injured during the match against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

"Admittedly, this is surely a disappointing development. Keep your head up and we are all wishing you the best in your recovery Lukas!"

The 23-year-old footballer was almost certain to be called up by Flick to play in the World Cup. His good performances with Wolfsburg and his seven international appearances are a testament to his abilities, but he will have to watch the tournament from home.
