Liverpool’s quadruple run is officially on, but do the bookies agree?

If the team (sorry, Everton) from Merseyside is able to win their remaining 6 games of the season, they could accomplish what no team in European top-flight soccer has ever done before: claim the mythical Quadruple.
Arsenal’s Invincibles, Fergie’s golden-era Manchester United, Barcelona’s glory day teams, and 13-time UCL-winning Real Madrid are all notorious teams that have seen their fair share of elite-level success in the soccer world, however, none of them have done what this year's Liverpool side are currently poised to do.
None of these European juggernauts have ever won their domestic league, the European Cup, and two domestic cups all in the same season.
Liverpool, who won the EFL Cup on penalties against Chelsea in February, now faces two more cup finals in May, and is in the home stretch of a nail-biting Premier League championship struggle with Manchester City, with only one point separating the two sides. If Jurgen Klopp’s red-men can see this endeavor through, they will surely cement themselves in footballing history as one of, if not the best squads to ever set foot on a soccer pitch.
Liverpool’s odds to win the Quadruple
It’s safe to say that the bookmakers had very little faith that this feat could ever be accomplished, offering comical odds that only a fool would take, right?
Had you placed a bet using any of the sports betting sites in the US for Liverpool to accomplish this unprecedented triumph at the beginning of the season, you would be poised to make some serious cash if they can see it through.
Before the start of the season, some bookmakers had them winning the Quadruple priced at a mouthwatering 3,000-1 (+300000) odds, a long shot by any team’s standards.
However, following Liverpool’s heroic UCL semi-final performance against Villarreal, those odds have now plummeted to a much more humble price. If you were to combine the current odds of Liverpool winning the FA Cup Final against Chelsea, claiming the Premier League title from Manchester City, and winning their 7th UCL Final come late May, it would come out to a combined price of 5-1 (+500) odds.
A stark contrast to the beginning of the season.
While it’s still no gimmie, it’s fair to say the bookmakers have now swayed in favor of Liverpool accomplishing the Quadruple. After all, if there’s any team that has proven that miracles can and do in fact happen, it’s Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s ‘Mentality Monsters’
Speaking to the media following Tuesday night’s epic second-half comeback by Liverpool to secure their place in the UCL Final in Paris on May 28th, Jurgen Klopp referred to his squad as the “mentality monsters”, showcasing his belief not just in his team’s physical abilities, but their collective winning mindset as well.
Klopp’s unwavering faith in his team
When asked about what he said to his team at halftime, Jurgen Klopp stated, “The whole world thought, ok, this is rather 3-0 than 2-1 (referring to Villareal’s chances of winning the match)... we knew that at halftime, so that’s the situation. That’s what everyone thinks. But we are still here, so we could give it a try, actually. So we just have to make sure that everybody can see that we try, and that’s what we did in the second half.”
Earlier in the week, speaking about whether or not the team had their minds set on the Quadruple, Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp said "I don't want to stop the emotions or people getting carried away, I have no problem with that at all…I know our people long enough, they are realistic as well, but they are always ready to dream when there is a little chance to dream."
Most managers, not just in soccer but in most professional sports, would typically answer that type of question in a much more modest and cautious manner. However, this team has a unique and rare bond between them that enables a deeper understanding among themselves. This is a team that whole-heartedly believes in themselves - something they have proven in crucial moments over the years - and isn’t afraid to dream.
6 wins. 6 wins could be the difference between a far-fetched dream and an unprecedented reality.
Only time will tell.
