FT: Liverpool 3-1 Manchester City. It's all over here at the King Power and Liverpool get their first slice of revenge on City for missing out on the Premier League last season. Alexander-Arnold put The Reds 1-0 up at the break and after Alvarez replied for City in the second half, Liverpool were awarded a penalty that Salah slammed home. GOOOOAAALLL FOR LIVERPOOL!!! Salah steps up and sneaks it past Ederson. The Egyptian slams it to the keeper's left and despite him diving the right way, the shot is too quick and nestles in the back of the net.

After Pawson is told to go over to the on-field screen by the VAR, he awards Liverpool the penalty.

GOOOAAAALLL FOR CITY!!! After a ridiculously long wait for the VAR (R. Mint) to make his mind up, Alvarez's goal stands as there was in fact no offside in the build up.

City have the ball in the back of the net after Alvarez pokes it in but the goal is pulled back for offside in the build up. Very tight call.

City finding it hard to create chances here. Liverpool are so well organised.

Nunez misses his first opportunity of the match. The Uruguayan is slipped through by Wyke and goes one on one with Ederson. The keeper rushes off his line to smother Nunez' shot brilliantly.

HT: Liverpool 1-0 Manchester City. Half time here at the King Power and it's Klopp's men who take a slight one goal advantage into the break. The Reds started the match the better and after creating a few chances were rewarded as Alexander-Arnold's curling effort hit the back of the net in the 21st minute. Following the goal, City piled the pressure on and created a host of chances. Liverpool had to ride a serious wave of pressure towards the end of the half.

Penalty shout for City as Mahrez is bumped into by Thiago in the box. Pawson puts his whistle to his mouth but decides against blowing it to award the penalty. You've seen them given...

Mahrez is played the ball inside the box and is stood up by Robertson. The City man shifts it onto his left and shoots. It gets past Robertson but is not hit with enough conviction to beat Adrian.

Ball looped into the Liverpool box. Haaland jumps up and attempts to volley but gets it wrong and sends the ball spinning into the air. Mahrez gets his head to it but it's weak and Adrian catches easily.

Haaland shrugs off Robertson and hits a shot off-balance towards goal. Adrian is equal to it.

KDB is slipped through into the box but his effort hits the side netting. Was a fairly tight angle for the shot.

GOOOAAALLLL TO LIVERPOOL!!! Alexander-Arnold with a beauty. Salah lays it off to him on the edge of the box and he hits it first time towards the back post. The curling shot skims off Ake's head, it hits the inside of the post and then the back of the net.

Ederson makes a great intervention as Henderson plays the ball across and Dias gets a touch to it to flick it towards his own goal. The keeper dives out and claws it away from Diaz who was lurking behind.

Robertson heads into the side netting as TAA puts a teasing ball into the box towards the back post.
