Second-bottom of the league with five matchdays left in La Liga, Leganés could become a Segunda División side on Sunday.
They face Espanyol away. If the Catalan side beat Javier Aguirre's men and Celta Vigo beat Real Betis, the Madrid side would have one a half feet in the Segunda División.
Leganés would be 12 points from safety with 4 four matches left. Therefore, the only option to stay up would be equalling Celta Vigo on points and having a better goal difference than them.
However, Leganés could mathematically stay up and also have the match on Sunday against Espanyol to increase the margin of error, which is getting smaller all the time.
