After a week of talking, Takefusa Kubo was given a more leading role for Villarreal. He didn't start, but Emery gave him more minutes than he is used to and he ended up in the headlines.
He first made the headlines for the role he played in Parejo's stunning goal, which made it 2-1. Then, he saw red for two acts of dangerous play.
Firstly, he caught the head of José Luis Gayá in an aerial duel with the Valencian. Gayá jumped and Kubo has penalised for a high foot.
Then, the the game coming to a close, Kubo recieved a second yellow for another poor tackle. He went into a 50-50 with Carlos Soler with his studs raised and, as a result, the day he had been waiting for ended with a sending off.
