Real Madrid want to settle some pending issues with players who finish their contracts in June and, therefore, can freely negotiate with any club from now on. One of them is midfielder Toni Kroos.
His team-mate David Alaba, who knows him well from his time at Bayern Munich, gave an interview to 'Bild' and spoke about the German's continuity, his intentions with 'Los Blancos' and some veteran stars such as Messi and Luka Modric.
"We all hope he will renew. I think he still has a lot of miles to go before he ends his career. He has an important role in the team, both on and off the pitch. He still has a lot of gas left in the tank. I hope he signs a new contract," he said.
He then spoke about the different profiles within football: "If we look at the last few years, we can see that experience plays a very important role in football. There are different stages in a career. When you are young, you have freshness and a sense of carefree play. After that comes experience, calmness, strategic thinking.
"I am 30 years old, I feel very good physically and I have gained a lot of experience. I know my body much better. I want to celebrate success: personally, with Real Madrid and with the national team. We want to win the league, to be at the top. We also want to do well in the other competitions," he said.
Finally, he commented on the European Champions League clash: "It's going to be a fantastic round of 16. The games against Liverpool are always tough clashes, they are one of the best teams in the world. It's going to be a difficult task, but we want to get through to the next round.
