Julian Araujo is now closer to becoming a new Barcelona signing. For Barca Atletic (Barca B), to be precise. He will bolster their defence and will look to break into the first team in the coming months.
The LA Galaxy footballer could not be signed by Barcelona in the January transfer window as it was completed 18 seconds after the deadline. Barca claim it was due to issues outside of the club's control.
"He was a footballer who was coming for the B team. We count on him and solutions are being sought via CAS or another club for five and then join them," Barca sporting director Mateu Alemany said.
Araujo will be able to train with Barca B, but will not be allowed to play for them until July unless Barca win their appeal to CAS.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the agreement, after the incidents on the last day of the transfer window, has been completed. Araujo will arrive in the Catalan capital on Thursday and sign a contract for the next four seasons.
