In a statement released on their social media accounts, Barcelona confirmed that Alejandro Balde suffered a ligament tear on his right ankle and will be out for the next 6 to 7 weeks after a crunching tackle from Amath Ndiaye.

Ansu Fati's double put Barcelona ahead at the Camp Nou in the match against Mallorca (3-0), as they played against 10 men from the 14th minute, after the sending off of Amath Ndiaye.

The Senegalese footballer made a crunching tackle on Alejandro Balde in Barca's defensive half and received a straight red after it was looked at by VAR.

The defender was attended to by medics on the pitch, but couldn't continue and was replaced by Sergio Roberto. The whole stadium gave him a standing ovation as he was carried off the field.

During the break, Barca's medical team confirmed an official diagnosis, and stated that the player would be out for 6 to 7 weeks after a partial tear of his external ligament in his right ankle.

He will therefore miss the last game of the season and looks like he will be back for the 2023-24 preseason at the end of July.
