Inaki Williams reports racist chanting at Espanyol

After the encounter between Espanyol and Athletic Bilbao, Inaki Williams complained in the interview area that he had been the victim of racist chanting from the crowd. "I'm a bit sad, these things are completely out of order," he commented.

The Athletic Bilbao players left Cornella El Prat with a bitter taste in their mouth after the equaliser Raul de Tomas scored and which prevented them from taking home the three points. Of all the Athletic Bilbao players, Inaki Williams was the most affected because he claimed that he heard racist insults during the game.

When asked in the interview area how he was feeling after the match, Inaki Williams expressed his sadness: "I'm a bit sad because of the draw but also because I've suffered racist insults. It's something no black player or player of any race wants to hear. It's completely out of order."

In the Athletic striker's opinion, "people should go to the stadium to enjoy and support their team, to enjoy the football. It's a team sport and it has been a bit of a sad day because these things shouldn't happen."

Williams was taken off by Garitano in the 69th minute for Raul Garcia. When he was going off, he did not look very happy. Although it looked like he could have been upset at being substituted or because of the scoreline, everything made more sense later on.

Shortly afterwards, the player made an anti-racism message on his Twitter account and thanked everyone for the support he had received.
